7 Ways To Keep Warm

1) Dress In Layers

Layers will insulate your body and make it easier to regulate your body temperature. You can add or remove layers as needed to stay comfortable. This applies indoors as well.

2) Wear Thick Socks or Slippers

Keeping your feet warm will make your whole body feel warmer. For an extra cozy feel, slip on a pair of ultra-warm wool stocks. Or keep a pair of slippers or shoes to wear around the house, especially if you tend to have cold floors.

3) Cup of Soup

Hot meals, such as a cup of soup, on cold days assists in drawing heat. And the way to make it is by making your own soup from scratch. Soup generally takes a while to cook, and the simmering pot on the stove will generate heat in the kitchen.

4) Warm Drinks

Options such as tea, coffee or honey water should be consumed to warm oneself up. Also the heat generated from the cup warms the hands. Remember to warm up that extra cup and make that security guards day or domestic instead of flushing it down the drain.

5) Engage In Salaah

Movements generates body heat therefore the best way to keep those limbs active is to perform additional nafl (non- obligatory) or qadhaa (catching up missed) salaah. An active body obedient to the Creator will save one from the burning fire on that Day when the heat will be unbearable. This is also a great way of expressing gratitude

6) Spare A Thought For The Less Fortunate

According to your means assist others. Search within your wardrobes and there may be many items which could warm up those suffering. If one has the means, take your young children for a drive and purchase a blanket, hand it over to the needy and witness a smile that will warm you up from head to toe. If you can’t then atleast feel their pain and share a kind word

Hadhrat ‘Adi ibn Hatim Radhiyallu Anhu reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

“Guard yourself from the Hellfire, even with half of a date in charity. If one cannot do it, then with a kind word.” Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī

7) Try The Cold-Weather Alcohol-Free Ittars (Perfume oils)

Ittars such as Musk (Black), Amber, Oud and Saffron are used in winters. They increase body temperature.

Women and Perfume

Important Note: Women should consider the severe warning of Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,

“Any woman who applies perfume and passes by people so that they may smell her fragrance is like an adulteress”.
