A COMPLETE NON ENTITY

Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله once mentioned that a respected Aalim (scholar) arrived and requested some advice. Hazrat رحمه الله said to him; “You are an Aalim of Deen. What advice can I offer you?”

After requesting for the second time, Hazrat Thaanwi رحمه الله told him that he can remember one lesson which he continues sharing with others. The lesson (he has learnt from his elders) is that to the best of one’s ability, regard oneself as a complete non-entity (i.e. if you wish to gain acceptance in the sight of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله, then do not attach any importance to yourself and do not have pride).

These words had such an impact on the Aalim that he immediately began to weep.
