Question: I would like to know the ruling for the poster below advertising the Salaah in absentia in Masaajid and areas which the bulk follow the Hanafi madhab?

Answer:
The truth in the matter is that this is a stunt for organisations to boost their image. Proof of this is the statement of PSA, “separate facilities for ladies”. Females who lose their honourable father or son/s never leave their homes to attend an ordinary Janaazah Salaah of their beloved who passed away, where did the idea come for women to leave for Salaatul Janaazah in absentia?
When addressing the issue, they will switch their argument to say it was for those who follow the Shaafi and Hambali Madhab respectively. However even according to them it is at most permissible for MEN to do so. No where is it mentioned that it is Fardh. When women are not allowed to go to the Masaajid for Fardh Salaah how has Shaytaan pricked the organisers of this commercialised event to invite females for that which is not Fardh and even impermissible according Hanafi’s and Maliki’s.
Salaatul Janaazah in absentia for males according to Shafi’s and Hambili’s is not Fardh. In the areas referred to which the bulk are Hanafi’s then it is impermissible for them. This should have a big notice on the poster to alert the bulk of people that is not permissible for them. Maliki’s hold the same view.
Do you see any sign on the poster saying for ‘Shaafi’s and Hambili’s only’? ًWhen it comes to other issues such as Sadaqatul Fitr then easily organisations make the distinction so nobody is confused. Leaving it general in a place where a particular Madhab is in the majority is deceptive. It is much more beneficial to sit in your home in seclusion and make dua for the deceased and the Ummah who are suffering at large. Our Deen is written with red ink, the blood of martyrs. Daily Mujahideen are giving their lives. As we speak not just in Palestine but also in Sudan and other countries of the world. If we going to make this a commercialised trend then there won’t be a single moment that would pass by but they would have to be performing Salaatul Janaazah in absentia. If Shaafi’s and Hambali’s did so on their own strength, then what was the harm? The fact PSA had to bolster their image all over Masaajid in Lenasia is problematic.
The Argument of the Bigger Picture
There are some who claim to be Hanafi but reckon that the times are so bad that we should not promote fitnah and fasaad. The answer to them is that shall we water down our Deen due to feeble claims? Fuqahaa have given their lives to procure a stipulated path to follow. Mixing, chopping and changing to suit desires for the moment is an ignorant decision. Making a claim that some Madhaahib allow it, therefore for just but a moment a Hanafi can transform into a Shaafi is opening the doors to Salafiasm. Once this door is open then shortly the confused case will lose his path and Allah forbid in this hopeless state turn murtad (apostate).
Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire, and Allah has sent him astray due to knowledge and has set a seal upon his hearing and his heart and put over his vision a veil? So who will guide him after Allah? Then will you not be reminded?
