If you ask why is it Haraam to watch or to support soccer/world cup. It is Haraam from many angles. Understand these two:
1. Hours are being wasted in this baseless sport.
2. An intense and undeniable love is developed for these Kuffaar.
Following Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam is the objective of our lives. One is worried about their team losing but what about when the Quraan Shareef tells you:
يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡۤا اِنۡ تُطِيۡعُوا الَّذِيۡنَ كَفَرُوۡا يَرُدُّوۡكُمۡ عَلٰٓى اَعۡقَابِكُمۡ فَتَـنۡقَلِبُوۡا خٰسِرِيۡنَ (149)
Translation:
O those who believe, if you obey those who disbelieve they will make you turn back on your heels, then you shall turn losers.
Surah Aal Imraan, Verse 149
