Mufti Taqi Uthmaani: There is no question about closing the Masaajid, Masaajid will stay open, Salaah with Jamaa’ however as I have mentioned, Sunnah Salaah should be read at home and a person should come (to the Masjid) having made Wudhu at home and the Imaam appointed should opt for a short recitation so that at least the times for gathering would still be maintained, however, closing the Masaajid is absolutely not a question.
These viruses come and go. Since the time of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam till today these viruses having been coming and going and our Fuqahaa themselves have had discussions already on what to do in these situations and never was there a time where the Masaajid closed! And as such Fuqahaa have given the verdicts in such scenarios Masaajid will not be closed. These verdicts are from our previous Fuqahaa as well as Jamia Azhar and other Fatawaa departments have given the same verdicts.
