The Beloved has two rights over those that love Him.
- To do that which the Beloved has commanded
- To not only abstain from all such acts which displease Him, but not even to go anywhere near them
One who has no concern over these two aspects has not perfected his love yet. This is the ultimate yard measure by which one tests one’s love for Allah Ta’laa. Thus, if one acts upon all such injunctions of the True Beloved, Allah Ta’laa, but does not abstain from those prohibitions which displease Him, he has not attained the perfect love of Allah as yet
