Scientists grow in amazement marveling at the creation of Allah Ta’alaa but if it is not coupled with belief in Him then that will serve detrimental to themselves.
Marine-mammal experts from New Zealand’s Department of Conservation and the national museum, Te Papa, as a male spade-toothed whale. The remains of the obscure, five-metre long, beaked creature were found near a river mouth in southern Otago province.
Conservation department’s coastal Otago operations manager, Gabe Davies said:
The find was fresh enough to offer the first opportunity for a spade-toothed whale to be dissected, the conservation department said.
The species is “so rare next to nothing is known about them”, it said.
The body of the whale has been placed in cold storage and genetic samples have been sent to the University of Auckland as curators of the New Zealand Cetacean Tissue Archive.
It may take several weeks or months for the DNA to be processed and a final identification confirmed.
“The rarity of the whale means conversations around what to do next will take more time because it is a conversation of international importance,” the conservation department said.
The species was first described in 1874 from just a lower jaw and two teeth collected from the Chatham Islands off the east coast of New Zealand.

The expedition is known as Ghazwatu Sayfil Bahri (The expedition at sea coast). Recorded in the most authentic book confirmed globally after the Qu’raan Shareef, commonly known as Saheehul Bukhaari. The full name of the Kitaab uncommon to many is Al-Jami’ul Musnadus Sahihul Mukhtasaru Min Umuri Rasulullillah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam Wa Sunanihi Wa Ayyamihi
باب غَزْوَةُ سِيفِ الْبَحْرِ وَهُمْ يَتَلَقَّوْنَ عِيرًا لِقُرَيْشٍ وَأَمِيرُهُمْ أَبُو عُبَيْدَة
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّهُ قَالَ
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بَعْثًا قِبَلَ السَّاحِلِ
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam sent troops towards the coastline.
وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ
He, Rasulullah (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam), appointed Abu ‘Ubaidah b. Jarrah (Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) as the Ameer (the Commanding Chief of the noble army comprising the companions of Rasulullah (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam).
وَهُمْ ثَلاَثُ مِائَةٍ
And they were 300
، فَخَرَجْنَا وَكُنَّا بِبَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ فَنِيَ الزَّادُ
So we embarked on our journey and traveled a considerable distance, eventually consuming all of our road provisions (padkos).
فَأَمَرَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بِأَزْوَادِ الْجَيْشِ
Thus, Abu ‘Ubaidah (Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) summoned the provisions of the expedition.
، فَجُمِعَ فَكَانَ مِزْوَدَىْ تَمْرٍ
As a result, it was gathered, my provisions was of dates
، فَكَانَ يَقُوتُنَا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قَلِيلٌ قَلِيلٌ حَتَّى فَنِيَ
Our daily ration was provided in small portions until it was completely consumed.
، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُصِيبُنَا إِلاَّ تَمْرَةٌ تَمْرَةٌ
Nothing reached us except date by date
فَقُلْتُ مَا تُغْنِي عَنْكُمْ تَمْرَةٌ
Then I (Sayyiduna Jaabir Radhiyallahu Anhu) said, “How does one date benefit you”
فَقَالَ لَقَدْ وَجَدْنَا فَقْدَهَا حِينَ فَنِيَتْ
He (Jaabir Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) said : “We came to know its value when that was also exhausted”
ثُمَّ انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى الْبَحْرِ
Then we reached the sea shore
، فَإِذَا حُوتٌ مِثْلُ الظَّرِبِ ،
All of a sudden there was a fish, the size of a mountain
فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا الْقَوْمُ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً
Then the group ate from it for 18 nights
ثُمَّ أَمَرَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بِضِلَعَيْنِ مِنْ أَضْلاَعِهِ فَنُصِبَا
Then Abu ‘Ubaida (Radiyallahu ‘Anhu) ordered that two of its ribs be fixed on the ground (in the form of an arch)
ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِرَاحِلَةٍ فَرُحِلَتْ ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ تَحْتَهُمَا فَلَمْ تُصِبْهُمَا.
Then (Sayyiduna Abu ‘Ubaidah b. Jarrah Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) ordered for a she-camel be ridden and passed underneath (two ribs), it did not touch it (the two ribs)
According to the narration of Muslim, Sayyiduna Jaabir Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu narrates:
قَالَ وَانْطَلَقْنَا عَلَى سَاحِلِ الْبَحْرِ فَرُفِعَ لَنَا عَلَى سَاحِلِ الْبَحْرِ كَهَيْئَةِ الْكَثِيبِ الضَّخْمِ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ دَابَّةٌ تُدْعَى الْعَنْبَرَ
We then went to the coast of the sea, and there rose before us on the coast of the sea something like a big mound. We came near that and we found that it was a beast, called al-‘Anbar
In this narration below (Saheeh Muslim 1930), it mentions the Sahaabah Radhiyallahu ‘Anhum were 300 and were there for a month until they became fat.
Further in the narration it mentions:
He (Jabir Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) said:
I saw how we extracted pitcher after pitcher full of fat from the cavity of its eye, and sliced from it compact piece of meat equal to a bull or like a bull.
Abu ‘Ubaida (Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) called forth thirteen men from us and he made them sit in the cavity of its eye, and he took hold of one of the ribs of its chest and made it stand and then saddled the biggest of the camels we had with us and it passed under it (the arched rib), and we provided ourselves with pieces of boiled meat (especially for use in our journey).
When we came back to Medina, we went to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and made a mention of that to him, whereupon he said: That was a provision which Allah had brought forth for you. Is there any piece of meat (left) with you, so tnat you give to us that? He (Jabir) said: We sent to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) tome of that (a piece of meat) and he ate it
عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَمَّرَ عَلَيْنَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ نَتَلَقَّى عِيرًا لِقُرَيْشٍ وَزَوَّدَنَا جِرَابًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ لَمْ يَجِدْ لَنَا غَيْرَهُ فَكَانَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ يُعْطِينَا تَمْرَةً تَمْرَةً – قَالَ – فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ كُنْتُمْ تَصْنَعُونَ بِهَا قَالَ نَمَصُّهَا كَمَا يَمَصُّ الصَّبِيُّ ثُمَّ نَشْرَبُ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَتَكْفِينَا يَوْمَنَا إِلَى اللَّيْلِ وَكُنَّا نَضْرِبُ بِعِصِيِّنَا الْخَبَطَ ثُمَّ نَبُلُّهُ بِالْمَاءِ فَنَأْكُلُهُ قَالَ وَانْطَلَقْنَا عَلَى سَاحِلِ الْبَحْرِ فَرُفِعَ لَنَا عَلَى سَاحِلِ الْبَحْرِ كَهَيْئَةِ الْكَثِيبِ الضَّخْمِ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ دَابَّةٌ تُدْعَى الْعَنْبَرَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ مَيْتَةٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ لاَ بَلْ نَحْنُ رُسُلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَقَدِ اضْطُرِرْتُمْ فَكُلُوا قَالَ فَأَقَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَهْرًا وَنَحْنُ ثَلاَثُ مِائَةٍ حَتَّى سَمِنَّا قَالَ وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا نَغْتَرِفُ مِنْ وَقْبِ عَيْنِهِ بِالْقِلاَلِ الدُّهْنَ وَنَقْتَطِعُ مِنْهُ الْفِدَرَ كَالثَّوْرِ – أَوْ كَقَدْرِ الثَّوْرِ – فَلَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِنَّا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ ثَلاَثَةَ عَشَرَ رَجُلاً فَأَقْعَدَهُمْ فِي وَقْبِ عَيْنِهِ وَأَخَذَ ضِلَعًا مِنْ أَضْلاَعِهِ فَأَقَامَهَا ثُمَّ رَحَلَ أَعْظَمَ بَعِيرٍ مَعَنَا فَمَرَّ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا وَتَزَوَّدْنَا مِنْ لَحْمِهِ وَشَائِقَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ “ هُوَ رِزْقٌ أَخْرَجَهُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ فَهَلْ مَعَكُمْ مِنْ لَحْمِهِ شَىْءٌ فَتُطْعِمُونَا ” . قَالَ فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْهُ فَأَكَلَهُ .
