Imaam Asma’ee said:
شِفاءُ العَمى طولُ السُّؤالِ وإنَّما
تَمامُ العَمى طولُ السُّكوتِ على الجَهلِ
“The cure for the blind is asking questions and the perfection of blindness is remaining silent over ignorance”
جامع بيان العلم و فضله لابن عبد البر
The nephew of Imaam Asma’ee Rahmatullahi ‘alaih reports that he heard his uncle quoting Abu Amr b. al-Alaa saying:
Gaining knowledge is in the following manner:
- Silence
- Listening attentively
- Beneficial questions
- Great effort to memorise
- Spreading it amongst the people.
“اخرجه الخطيب البغدادي في “الفقيه و المتفقه”
A teacher is one who interacts with the students. He asks the students questions and allows the students to ask questions.
