FAME OR SWEETNESS OF THE AAKHIRAH

While many (Deeny or non Deeny) are searching for that celebrity red carpet welcome, millions of likes and followers, this desire in itself is destructive. The celebrity pressure involves those very stars to change their tune now to suit the public. The reality is the public are worshipped eventually. This person becomes imprisoned. Wherever he goes, there is no freedom. Cameras are out snapping away, he barely has a personal life. He has received that status of a ‘public figure’ but no sooner the anti wrinkle creams fail to serve its temporary purpose and all of a sudden suicide is the only desire left. Do we ever ponder over the consequences of desiring such?

Think again! Once you a public figure then it is really difficult to unpublicize yourself and you become trapped in a world of serving public desires. Moreover, you feel the pressure mounting and eventually you surrender giving up your old traditional principles. Initially you strong and will not compromise but later you find yourself justifying the wrong you once preached about.

Sayyiduna K’ab bin Malik (Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Two hungry wolves sent in the midst of a flock of sheep are no more destructive to them than a man’s greed for wealth and fame is to his Deen.”

Tirmidhi, Riyaadhus Saaliheen – Hadith 485

Bishr ibn al-Harith, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “A man will not find the sweetness of the Hereafter if he loves to be known by people.”
