Question: Is it permissible for people to include the “Muslim” in dating apps? It is called the Muslim Dating App!
Answer: Dating is Haraam. Going into these apps is Haraam whether they include the word Nikaah or Muslim it still wont make it into Islam even if his name may be Ismail or whether he may be a Mufti or not. If a Mufti is sanctioning such Nikaah apps which do not even require a Wali at times then what levels don’t you think the general public wont take it to? If a person who developed the app was Muslim, now goes on to develop a dating Muslim app knowing very well it is Haraam, he would lose his Imaan on the basis of legalising the illegal. It would suffice to address such people who develop these zina apps with titles such as swines and monkeys because Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam had foretold about the end of these type of people.
Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam said:
“From among my followers there will be some people who will legalise illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, ‘Return to us tomorrow.’ Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection.”
“ لَيَكُونَنَّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَقْوَامٌ يَسْتَحِلُّونَ الْحِرَ وَالْحَرِيرَ وَالْخَمْرَ وَالْمَعَازِفَ، وَلَيَنْزِلَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ إِلَى جَنْبِ عَلَمٍ يَرُوحُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِسَارِحَةٍ لَهُمْ، يَأْتِيهِمْ ـ يَعْنِي الْفَقِيرَ ـ لِحَاجَةٍ فَيَقُولُوا ارْجِعْ إِلَيْنَا غَدًا. فَيُبَيِّتُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَيَضَعُ الْعَلَمَ، وَيَمْسَخُ آخَرِينَ قِرَدَةً وَخَنَازِيرَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ”
The principle here is key: that which the Shariah declares Haraam, who gives anybody the right to mess with the law of Allah Ta’alaa and declare it legal based on their desires? Now take a whole load of issues and juxtapose!
Bukhari
Allah Ta’alaa says:
أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ أَفَأَنتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا
Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?
