Naseehah for the Iftaar Merry Makers

A brother writes,

Growing up not knowing much due to my own weaknesses, as friends we turned every moment into a fun packed so called joyous occasion. Truly I did not know what was joy. This is what I want to drive home to every Ummati who intends attending the mass iftaar in Durban at the Kingsmead stadium or any of these mass iftaar occasions.

So when I was in my teens, the one occasion I remember clearly is when I wanted to go with my two friends to the Spur restaurant to break my fast and have a different iftaar. When I told my mother this is what I want to do I could tell from her honourable face that she was definitely not pleased. I could not understand why. My sister also tried to convince me otherwise but my heart was hard at the time and who can guide a heart when Allah Ta’ala has not yet decided that heart must find guidance. Today I am sitting here thinking how did Shaytaan seek beautify this great ibaadah at the moment of iftaar in a place that Allah Ta’ala hates the most. I left out the place which Allah Ta’alaa loves for this place where His wrath falls upon?

Hadhrat Abu Huraira Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu reported:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

The most beloved of places to Allah are the mosques, and the most hated of places to Allah are the markets.”

The Masjid for women which has been stated in Ahaadith is in the corner of her home. The time of Iftaar is a blessed moment. Why would we allow Shaytaan to beautify these moments with his loose ways. Kingsmead Stadium on other occasions is the place where alcohol and the worst of sins are committed. A believer stays away from such places and he/she looks for the avenues of noor.

Make istighfaar and stay far from these places. Jazaakumullahu khaira.
