In a world where Muslims are continuously made the target in the enemies bloodthirsty firing range, in a dark cyberspace environment where the only goal that tops their agenda seems to be the manipulation of the roots of Islam, fiercely vaccinating into the blood stream a tempered definition of Muslims, this indeed raises the blood pressure of a single body where true hearts beat.
عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ رضي الله عنه قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَدَاعَى لَهُ سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى
صحيح البخاري
Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir Radhiyallahu Anhu reported:
“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.” (Bukhari)
This global bond is codified by love. True love can only be ascertained when the flame of curiosity burns and the heart yearns to pose this question, where should love be directed to? A point when you were not even a spectacle, your Sustainer to whom All Praises belong to, brought you into existence and shaped you in the best possible mould.
If you claim to love Him then what is the yardstick to measure?
Quran – Surah No. 3 آل عمران
Ayah No. 31
أَعُوذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
قُلۡ اِنۡ كُنۡتُمۡ تُحِبُّوۡنَ اللّٰهَ فَاتَّبِعُوۡنِىۡ يُحۡبِبۡكُمُ اللّٰهُ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَـكُمۡ ذُنُوۡبَكُمۡؕ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُوۡرٌ رَّحِيۡمٌ ۞
Translation:
Say ( Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa-sallam): If you do love Allah, follow me; Allah shall love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Most-Forgiving, Very-Merciful.”
Following is key when undertaking the pathway to your Sustainer,
Quran – Surah No. 1 الفاتحة
Ayah No. 7
صِرَاطَ الَّذِيۡنَ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ۙ غَيۡرِ الۡمَغۡضُوۡبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا الضَّآلِّيۡنَ ۞
Translation:
the path of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, not of those who have incurred Your wrath, nor of those who have gone astray. ؏
If you follow those whom Allah Ta’laa bestowed His grace, you will attain ultimate salvation. In the same breathe be warned, if you dare choose the path of those who decided to take on new pathways and not follow the chosen path then understand you will reach the peak of failure.
The very arms that signify the seconds on the clocks that hang on the walls of oppression testify to the fact that not a second goes but they are chasing to extinguish this light of Islam.
Will they succeed?
Surah Tawbah : Chapter 9 Verse 32
يُرِيۡدُوۡنَ اَنۡ يُّطۡفِـئُــوۡا نُوۡرَ اللّٰهِ بِاَ فۡوَاهِهِمۡ وَيَاۡبَى اللّٰهُ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يُّتِمَّ نُوۡرَهٗ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ الۡـكٰفِرُوۡنَ ۞
Translation:
They want to blow out the Light of Allah with their mouths, and Allah rejects everything short of making His light perfect, no matter how the disbelievers may hate it
They may appear in the form of Muslims but underneath their garments, hearts are painted with hypocrisy, their real faces are masked but never lose hope as a painful punishment is unfolding as history repeats itself though there is a manifestation of different shades of skin.
It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. ‘Abdullah Radhiyallahu Anhu who said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: A group of people from my Ummah will continue to fight In defence of truth and remain triumphant until the Day of judgment” (Muslim)
Who are the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ which the true Muslim acquaints himself with?
This is that noble group of people who follow ardently in the footsteps of Ulama-e-Rabbaniyeen ( true scholars of Allah Ta’laa) who follow none other than the lives of Sahabah Radhiyallahu Anhum (Companions of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam). The companions are those who were physically present in the company of Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam during his ﷺ honourable lifetime in a state that they had Imaan. Thus there could be no other group or person who could obey the instruction of the Holy Quran فَاتَّبِعُوۡنِىۡ (Follow Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) than these Noble Companions Radhiyallahu Anhum.
Note : Sahabah صحابة is in the form of a definite plural while the indefinite singular is Sahabi صحابي and feminine is Sahabiyyah صحابية
Thus Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ consists of the following two keys words :
1.) As-Sunnah السنة (Codified principles guiding to a particular path)- This is indicative in Siraatul- Mustaqeem (The Straight Path)
Quran – Surah No. 6 الأنعام
Ayah No. 153
وَاَنَّ هٰذَا صِرَاطِىۡ مُسۡتَقِيۡمًا فَاتَّبِعُوۡهُ ۚ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوۡا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمۡ عَنۡ سَبِيۡلِهٖ ؕ ذٰ لِكُمۡ وَصّٰٮكُمۡ بِهٖ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُوۡنَ
Translation:
And: “This is My path, straight. So, follow it, and do not follow the (other) ways, lest it should take you away from His way.” This is what He has emphasized for you, so that you may be God-fearing.“
فَاتَّبِعُوۡهُ (So follow Allah’s straight path) is the instruction in the verse and do not follow السُّبُلَ (other pathways), the plural is used to denote that the pathways to evil are many and thereafter Allah Ta’laa says “lest it should take you away from سَبِيۡلِهٖ His path, this path to Allah Ta’laa is in the singular shape stamping firm the pathway to Allah Ta’laa is one. If we dared to eliminate the honourable companions who passed over the untainted golden chains of proven success, then this pathway to our Creator can never be an option on the menu to live as a human.
2. Al-Jamaa’ الجماعة refers exactly to these golden companions of Rasulullah ﷺ , and those Ulama who have made it their lifetime duty to ensure every step is an attempt to follow these lofty companions who did not leave a stone un-turned in emulating the best of creation, Rasulallahu Salallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam, (The Holy Messenger peace be upon him), thus these Ulama seek to present to the world this legacy of Pure Islam and its jurisprudence.
Al-Jamaa’ is indicated in the following verses:
Quran – Surah No. 9 التوبة
Ayah No. 119
يٰۤـاَيُّهَا الَّذِيۡنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَكُوۡنُوۡا مَعَ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ
Translation:
O those who believe, fear Allah, and be in the company of the truthful
Quran – Surah No. 3 آل عمران
Ayah No. 79
وَلٰـكِنۡ كُوۡنُوۡا رَبَّانِيّٖنَ بِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تُعَلِّمُوۡنَ الۡكِتٰبَ وَبِمَا كُنۡتُمۡ تَدۡرُسُوۡنَۙ
Translation:
But Be men of the Sustainer; as you have been teaching the Book, and as you have been learning it.”
Whenever there was darkness, Prophets were sent once again to attract that light of success:
ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «كانت بنو إسرائيل تَسُوسُهُمُ، الأنبياء، كلما هلك نبي خَلَفَهُ نبي، وإنه لا نبي بعدي
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah Radhiyallahu Anhu (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi wa sallam (the Prophet may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The Children of Israel were being ruled by the Prophets. When one prophet died, another succeeded him. There will be no prophet after me.” (Bukhari)
There is no more Prophets to come therefore we look to the Ulama-e-Rabbaniyeen who in turn have their gaze fixed on the honourable companions of the last Prophet Of Allah Ta’laa ﷺ.
Ulama are key inheritors of knowledge as mentioned in Sunan Abu Dawud,
إن العلماء ورثة الأنبياء
They are inheritors of pure knowledge as opposed tainted fabricated knowledge. It fails a person of intellect to comprehend the definition of inheritance when one intends to root out the first group which inherited directly. When this golden chain is protected as opposed to the animalism of evil that they wish to spread, then what can their only aim be except to make every effort pursuing the detachment of each unique link of this secured chain.
Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ is that noble group who every now and again rise to the occasion, when the enemy makes a little progress to deviate the world, it is the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ who recollects the protected knowledge and steers this Ummah back to the path of safety and protection.
Salvation is in the Sahabah Radhiyallahu Anhum
وَإِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ تَفَرَّقَتْ عَلَى ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً وَتَفْتَرِقُ أُمَّتِي عَلَى ثَلاَثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ مِلَّةً كُلُّهُمْ فِي النَّارِ إِلاَّ مِلَّةً وَاحِدَةً قَالُوا وَمَنْ هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ مَا أَنَا عَلَيْهِ وَأَصْحَابِي
“Indeed the children of Isra’il split into seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three sects. All of them are in the Fire Except one sect.” He said: “And which is it O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “What I am upon and my Companions.” (Tirmidhi)
An Example of Inheriting Knowledge
Take the pillar of Islam namely, Salaah, can a person be a Muslim if he rejects this enormous pillar of Islam? Rasulullah ﷺ said, صلوا كما رأيتموني أصلي
“Pray like how you see me praying” (Bukhari)
We end of by begging an answer to this question, if the instruction is to pray like how you see Rasulullah ﷺ praying, then who were those who inherited the ‘know-how’ of salaah and then who were those inherited it and passed it on as a trust to the following group and like this it came down to us. This is ideally the meaning of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal- Jamaa’. Staying on this protected path without deviating it!
